The New Zealand Tourism Sustainability commitment aims to see every New Zealand tourism business commitment to sustainability by 2025. Here at Go Orange we will listen and act upon the economic goals shared by TIA while working to restore, protect and enhance our natural environment. We are joining the New Zealand tourism ranks and working on our own inspirational sustainability journey.
‘Together we can create a truly sustainable tourism industry that makes a positive and enduring contribution to Aotearoa New Zealand’
The vision is to lead the world in sustainable tourism, to deliver on this vision we must take a stance in the tourism industry and achieve our economic goals while sharing the benefits of contributing to restoring, protecting and enhancing our natural environment.
The guardianship and protection of our natural, built and cultural resources for the benefit of current and future generations.
Showing respect, hospitality, generosity and care for others.
A relationship through shared experiences and working together which provides people with a sense of belonging.
By acting now as a company and a nation the tourism industry will thrive and continue to be successful. Here at Go Orange we are committed to enhancing the future of tourism in New Zealand. We are working hard throughout all our experiences to create a sustainable and thriving environment for our staff and customers alike.
We work closely with DOC to help aid conservation efforts and marine research throughout Fiordland National Park as well as predator control. Our team currently attend SMART courses, this stands for Sustainable Marine Mammal Actions and Recreation in Tourism. We are constantly broadening our knowledge about our backyard and learn how to correctly operate and be respectful in conservations area without disturbing the wildlife who live there.
We have eliminated the use of single-use plastics throughout our operations as well as purchasing a fleet of Unimog’s that are more economically sound than our previous fleet, thus reducing our carbon footprint.
This Summer we will be offering plastic-free lunches in Doubtful Sound and only vegetarian options. In Milford Sound, we transport all our beer in reusable kegs opposed to bottles and all our coffee onboard comes in biodegradable packaging. We are also making the conscious effort to create a single-use plastic-free environment in Milford Sound. As a company, we are committed to Aotearoa and the positive outcome of actively bettering ourselves and operations.
