Freshwater pests can be spread by activities in and around our waterways. Protecting our waterways takes everyone and here at Go Orange we are keen to keep our playground as clean as possible. We have been chatting with our mates at check, clean, dry to spread the message about their campaign. Freshwater pests can be invisible so in order to protect our rivers and lakes we need to be proactive in our approach to using the waterways.
We all have a responsibility to stop the threat of freshwater pests, and as the team say, if it’s wet, it’s a threat so check, clean, dry all your gear after each use. Biosecurity keeps our home safe from pests and diseases and protects our way of life, the outdoor environment where we fish, farm, hunt and explore, the beautiful biodiversity of our unique ecosystem and even the food we eat.
Ko Tātou This Is Us asks us to take a moment to think about how we can protect this epic country we call home. We all have a role to play in preventing pests and diseases from
getting into New Zealand or helping to stop their spread if they do get here.
It takes all of us to care for what we’ve got and we are proud to share the message and implement these methods in our everyday practices at work.
Below are the core messages of the ongoing campaign that we want to share with you.
If you're moving between waterways, you must clean all your gear using the 'Check, Clean, Dry' method. Learn more about how to check, clean, dry your gear here
