Q - How long have you worked at Go Orange?
I came down from the Abel Tasman and started work with GO at the end of August 2018.
Q - Why did you move to Queenstown?
Me and the missus fancied a change of scenery and wanted to work a Summer somewhere else on the South Island, my love of boating brought us to Queenstown.
Q -What is the best part of your job?
Driving boats, obviously. But also hanging out with the GO crew, they are a pretty epic team.
Q - What has been your funniest moment on a trip?
Once back in Abel Tasman I forgot to put my undies on, short shorts on a hot day meant for an unfortunate display while guiding a boat over the ocean.
Q - If you didn’t drive Jet Boats what would you do?
I would love to be a helicopter pilot or stay on the water and train to be a raft guide.
Q - Do you own your own Jet Boat?
I don’t, but I would love to build one.
Q - What was life before GO?
I lived in Motueka in the Abel Tasman and skippered boats up there. I was also a sea kayak guide for 2-5-day overnight trips.
Q - What has been your favourite boat mission ever?
I went to Canada for an eleven-day whitewater rafting trip through Quebec. It was part of a rescue course and it was insane! I will never forget that.
Q - Who is your favourite person at GO?
Bear the dog, of course.
Q - If you could go anywhere in the world where would it be?
I would love to free dive in the Galapagos.
Q - Describe your perfect day in Queenstown?
I would head to Ferg bakery and grab breakfast before heading out for a drive to Glenorchy or a full day hike in the hills with my dog Karma. I’m yet to do a winter here yet, but I imagine in Winter we would be back country skiing over at Cardrona. I would finish the day in town at Sundeck or out at the new Altitude brewing bar in Frankton.
Q - What’s your favourite Queenstown hike?
Wye Creek is pretty epic, if you like rock climbing it’s a good spot for that too.
Harley is one of our epic drivers, great yarns, questionable tunes and always up for a hoon on the lake. Join Harley on our Go Orange Jet Boats… Book Here to find out more!
