Q - How long have you worked for Go Orange?
I started at the beginning of May 2019.
Q - Why did you choose to live and work in Queenstown?
It’s the hub of adventure tourism & I knew I had to move down here and experience it for myself. Also, a bunch of my friends decided to move together so it was good to come as a crew.
Q - Tell us the best part of your job.
I would say giving customers a true kiwi experience. Jet Boating started in New Zealand, so it feels good to deliver that to tourists and locals alike.
Q - How does it feel to be the only female right now in Queenstown representing for the commercial drivers?
Honestly, I didn’t even really think about it. But now I think about it, it’s pretty cool. I totally think more ladies should get involved in the industry. I learnt on the job through a company and I highly recommend taking that route if any ladies out there are interested in the industry.
Q - When and why did you get into driving Jet Boats?
Well, I was a raft guide in Hamner Springs. The deal there is that you raft down the river and Jet Boat back up. My boss suggested I train to drive the boats too. It’s way less physically demanding, and I find it more enjoyable now.
Q - Do you have any memorable moments from your Jet Boat trips?
Well, with only being here a few weeks I’m sure I will get heaps but last week, one of my first solo trips on the Kawarau I had a big group of Kiwi lads on the boat, the song ‘Why does Love do this to me’ by The Exponents came on, we cranked it up and had a great sing along all the way back into the bay.
Q - Favourite experience in the company?
I actually went rafting on the Kawarau River on my first morning and it was pretty awesome, the high water is epic.
Q - What do you do out of work?
Rafting, hiking, anything outdoors really.
Q - If you didn't work for us, what would you do?
I would fly over to Dubai and be a sky dive instructor over the palm.
Q - Tell us, what was life before Go Orange?
I grew up on the wild west coast, where I attended an outdoor ed college, I then moved to Hamner springs to work in adventure tourism. I worked in Hamner for five years, jet boating, rafting and bungy jumping and I also lived in Japan for a year, Whitewater rafting.
Q - If you could travel anywhere in the world where would it be?
I would 100% fly to Dubai, but I would also really like to adventure in Canada.
Q - What is your favourite mission ever?
I completed most of my raft guide training in Canterbury, it’s a pretty cool river and I have some awesome memories from down there.
Q - What is one thing you suggest for people to do while visiting Queenstown?
Apart from Jet Boating? 100% go and Bungy jump in the Nevis canyon, its so sick!
Q - Tell us one interesting fact about yourself?
When I got my Jet Boat licence in October 2016 I was one of seven women to have their commercial Jet Boating licence. Also, I will marry a Helicopter pilot one day…
