What is a Unimog?

The Unimog, is a range of multi-purpose all-wheel drive medium trucks. Our 8 Mercedes Benz Unimog 5023 truck buses were purpose built for Go Orange for off road conditions, and were purchased for various 4WD experiences. They are brand new! Featuring a better cabin for the crew and driver, air conditioning, 360 degree cameras, and radio systems for internal and external communication. They are purpose built for us, and for the environment that they work in.

How long is the Unimog tour?

You will be on board the Unimog over at Walter Peak high Country Station for one hour.

Where do we check in for the Unimog tour?

The water taxi will depart from the Queenstown Go Orange Kiosk, Steamer Wharf. You can’t miss us, we are the ones surrounded by Orange flags.  If you have booked a Unimog experience please arrive 15 minutes before departure so we can give you all the gear you need for your trip.

What shall I bring on the experience?

Please bring sensible clothing and footwear. You are more than welcome to wear your sunglasses, hats and other accessories. Don’t forget to bring your camera, GoPro and video devices. You are also more than welcome to bring snacks, fruit, muesli bars and quick to eat food is advised. A reusable water bottle is also advised.

Is the lake transfer included in the tour?

It sure is. Return lake transfers to Walter Peak are included in the experience.

Will I have chance to get out of the Unimog?

Yes, yes, yes! There will be plenty of opportunity to get out, stretch your legs and take some epic shots for the gram.

Is this a guided tour?

Yes, our drivers will meet you over at Walter Peak Station and provide informative and educational commentary on route.

How many people will be on the tour?

The groups will always be small with a maximum of 20 people, minimum 12.

Can I bring my children on the four-wheel drive tour?

Yes! Please bring your wee nippers along for the ride, they will love it!

What will I see on the tour?

You will see mountains, Lake Wakatipu, Walter Peak High Country Station and some serious New Zealand backcountry goodness!
